A celebration of life is a personal, flexible way to honour someone through their stories, character, relationships and the memories they leave behind. Serving families across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, I will help you plan, write and lead a warm, meaningful gathering at the time and place that feels right for you—whether it follows a direct cremation, a private funeral or a burial.
Celebration of Life Ceremonies Across the Three Counties
Unlike a traditional funeral service, a celebration of life is often held separately from the cremation or burial. This gives you greater freedom over the date, length, setting and content. The gathering may be intimate and reflective or larger and more uplifting, with guests encouraged to share stories, music and treasured memories.
Your ceremony can include favourite music, poems, readings, photographs, video, personal tributes and symbolic moments such as lighting candles or creating a memory table. There is no required format. I will listen carefully, offer gentle ideas and bring every element together with a natural, reassuring flow. If you need a farewell linked directly to a cremation or burial, a Funeral and Memorial Service may suit you better.
Choosing a Meaningful Time and Place
Following a direct cremation, the celebration can be arranged whenever your family feels ready. It may take place at home, in a hotel, village hall, garden, woodland setting or another special venue in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire or Northamptonshire. Having more time can make it easier for distant relatives and friends to attend and contribute stories, photographs or music.
I will guide you through timings and practical details, liaise with the venue where needed and support anyone who wishes to speak. For a loved one with an Armed Forces connection, a Military Focused Ceremony can recognise service and sacrifice with dignity. A Living Ceremony offers another thoughtful choice, bringing people together to share cherished words during a person’s lifetime.
Calm, Personal Support from Planning to Ceremony
We will begin with a gentle conversation about the person you are remembering and what matters most to your family. You do not need to have everything decided. I can help select readings and music, write the main tribute, shape contributions from relatives and create an order that feels balanced and personal.
I will share the draft ceremony with you, make agreed changes and lead the gathering calmly on the day. My role is to remove some of the pressure, hold the occasion together and create space for everyone to remember, reflect and celebrate in their own way.
Celebration of Life Fees and FAQs
My fee will be agreed clearly before we begin and will usually include our consultation, planning, ceremony writing, an agreed number of revisions, liaison with your venue or funeral director and leading the celebration. Extra meetings, rehearsals, printed materials, significant travel or unusual requests may cost more, but we will always discuss and agree this beforehand. Please feel comfortable speaking to me about your plans and budget.
When can we hold the celebration?
It can take place whenever you feel ready, including weeks or months after a direct cremation, funeral or burial.
Where can the ceremony be held?
You can choose a suitable home, garden, hotel, hall, woodland venue or another meaningful place across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire.
Can family and friends take part?
Absolutely. They may share readings, memories, music or symbolic moments, and I can help everyone feel prepared and supported.
